We've all heard the saying haven't we? "You are what you eat." I don't know if I first heard it at home or at school, but from an early age most of us were taught that if you eat man-made food like candy and junk food you'll not be healthy. And the opposite is true for foods that God made. Of course, now it's not so simple is it, to find foods untouched by scientific tampering? The world is becoming a very dangerous place, even for the average trip to the grocery store! Some of you may be chuckling, but I am deadly serious.

As a Christian, I am always looking for more information about the Bible. I guess some people just want to gain more knowledge about the Bible, but there are others I know who want to learn more about the One who created them. They also want to apply what they learn - to love others and to honor and obey God.

This article has long passages of Scripture in it. I encourage you not to skip over God's words. They are much more important to read than anything I have written here. They were written by God Himself for you, because He loves you and cares for you. He wants you to know the truth.

The Bible says this about the reason to learn from God's Word: "Study to show thy self approved of God"...

Your better life has already been achieved, when you stop trying to achieve a better life.

What this is referring to is a change in your perspective, not a "cease and desist" attitude on life in general. It doesn't mean we should give up on becoming stronger in our quality of life, and stop seeking to help others still more and more. It means that we are content no matter our circumstance, as God commands us to be; content with ourselves and what we have.

To obsess or be anxious for more, or to envy someone else's life or possessions is self-defeating. We are then in a constant state of frustration, always hoping and waiting for more happiness. In doing this we are robbing ourselves of true happiness that last for eternity. Jesus often spoke of a reward beyond the grave - great things beyond our imagination, to look forward to beyond death.
